How do you treat your feet?

Have a pedicure. Go on. Your feet work work hard for you, so be nice to them.

You’re probably wondering what those two strange things are at the end of your legs that recently emerged from under layers of winter socks?

If you’ve recently unwrapped your feet after months of keeping them covered, they may look a little neglected. Because why bother with foot care and pedicures over winter, right? Right. Well, now you need to make it up to your feet with some pampering.

You could go the more expensive way. But you’re worth it, remember. So go the salon way. Why do we treat our hair to regular salon visits, while our feet, which work so hard for us, get second-class citizenship? Get a pedicure. It’s feels good, and it’s so rewarding to see the foot makeover. Take a before and after shot to see the difference – just don’t show anyone the before shot, please.

Or try DIY home foot care – it’s easy.

Start by soaking your feet in a basin of hot, soapy water, for about 15 minutes, to soften the dry, dead skin. For extra fun, add some some marbles to the basin and massage your feet by rolling them around. Then remove your feet and scrub them with a foot file

specially the rougher areas. Use the coarser side for rougher patches, and the finer side for smoother skin.

Now exfoliate while your feet are still damp. You can buy a foot scrub, or make this easy one: Mix ½ cup brown sugar with ¼ cup of any liquid oil, and ¼ cup of fragrant, well-crushed flower petals or herbs. Rub the scrub onto wet skin in a circular motion. Now rinse your feet and dry them.

Trim your toenails, cutting straight across the nail, and then shape with an emery board, then use a cuticle softener and remover on each nail, before trimming and pushing back the cuticles.

Make sure your toes are completely dry before applying polish, and finally, moisturize using a good pedi cream.

There. That was worth it. And your feet feel loved again.
