Winter can be the worst time for your skin, and if you live in a dry winter area, your skin will feel the damaging effects even more. Dryness, tightness, flaking and even cracking are conditions you can avoid.
Here are a eight tips for a healthier winter skin:
Exfoliate – scrub away the dry skin, but be gentle! And make sure to moisturise when you’re done.
Love your lips. Winter lips need special treatment and lipstick doesn’t give the best protection. Use a good lip balm – especially at night.
Don’t forget your feet. They’re probably covered up for most of the season, but don’t forget to apply foot lotion before putting on socks.
Oil up. A few drops of baby oil in your bath will give dry winter skin a lovely silky feel.
Dryness, tightness, flaking and even cracking are conditions you can avoid.
Too much toner? If you usually use toner, remember it’s an alcohol product – and that can be harsh on your skin. It’s better for the warmer, more humid months.
Heaters dry out your skin. So use a richer moisturiser for extra protection.
It’s good to spend time outdoors in winter, but when there’s an icy breeze, your skin needs extra care. Put on extra moisture protection AND a sunblock before spending time outdoors.
Dry hands – are a common winter problem. Use a rich hand lotion before bedtime, then sleep with cotton gloves to let the moisture soak in.
